Brad Dicianno, MD

Dr. Brad Dicianno is a physiatrist specializing in the treatment of individuals with severe disabilities, including spina bifida, and leads one of the largest adult clinics for this condition in the United States. He also specializes in assistive technologies such as wheelchairs and mobility devices, augmentative communication, environmental control systems, and computer access devices. He serves as Medical Director of the VA Center on Wheelchairs and Rehabilitation Engineering, as well as Medical Director and COO of the Human Engineering Research Laboratories. As a bioengineer and former NIH fellow in the Rehabilitation Medicine Scientist Training Program, he conducts independent research in rehabilitation medicine and oversees the internal operations of his center and laboratories. His main research interests include mobile health, advanced wheelchair technologies, pressure injuries, and medical complications in spina bifida. He is also actively involved in medical education and research training, serving as Director of the Rehabilitation Research Experience for Medical Students and Assistant Dean for Medical Student Research at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
