Prof. Sunil Agrawal
Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Columbia University
Sunil K. Agrawal is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Columbia University and a leading researcher in rehabilitation robotics. He has built a highly visible interdisciplinary program involving the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University. His research focuses on rehabilitation robotics, dynamics, control, optimization, and differential flatness. Through pilot and clinical studies, his work has shown that novel robotic training systems can help people relearn, restore, and improve functional movements affected by stroke, Parkinson’s disease, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, Down syndrome, and age-related decline. He collaborates actively with experts in neurology, rehabilitation medicine, pediatric orthopedics, otolaryngology, geriatrics, and psychiatry. He is the author of more than 450 research articles, 3 books, and 13 patents.
