Foreword from Dr. Aibek Niyetkaliyev, Deputy-Director, CEMRR
It is my pleasure to share the Annual Report of the Center of Excellence for Medical Robotics and Rehabilitation (CEMRR), established at Nazarbayev University with support from the World Bank Grant program. Over the past year, our Center has continued to advance innovative research and translate impactful technologies at the intersection of engineering, artificial intelligence, and clinical practice.
This year, our work focused on designing and developing advanced robotic systems for rehabilitative applications, as well as AI-driven tools to support orthopaedic care and diagnostics. These efforts reflect our commitment to addressing real-world clinical challenges and improving patient outcomes through collaboration.
Our teams have made significant progress in refining robotic solutions that enhance mobility and assist clinical procedures. We have also expanded research in AI for medical imaging and computational pathology, generating new insights through partnerships with clinical collaborators.
A core strength of CEMRR is the collaborative environment that drives our work. By bringing together faculty, researchers, clinicians, students, and partners from industry and healthcare, and by integrating clinical perspectives early in the design process, we ensure that our innovations are both technically sound and relevant to clinical needs.
This Annual Report highlights the scope of our activities and accomplishments and outlines initiatives that will support continued impact in the year ahead. It reflects the creativity, perseverance, and interdisciplinary cooperation that define our community.
I extend my sincere gratitude to our colleagues, collaborators, and supporters for their dedication and contributions. I invite you to explore this
report as we continue advancing transformative solutions to enhance healthcare delivery and patient quality of life.
Sincerely,
Dr. Aibek Niyetkaliyev
